NAMES IN THE NEWS

          Sports agent ELBERT CRAWFORD, whose clients have
     included Lakers G DEREK FISHER and NBA Kings F CORLISS
     WILLIAMSON, and his company, ACE SPORTS MANAGEMENT, have
     been sued by two AR banks "for unpaid loans totaling more
     than" $590,000, including interest (AR DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE,
     3/25)....The late sports columnist JIM MURRAY and ABC golf-
     course reporter BOB ROSBURG are the recipients of the newly-
     instituted BABE ZAHARIAS LPGA JOURNALISM AWARD created under
     the direction of LPGA Tour Commissioner TY VOTAW.  The award
     will be presented annually to both a print and electronic
     journalist to recognize excellence in covering women's pro
     golf (LPGA)....The FL Senate Education Committee yesterday
     approved a measure to rename FL State Univ.'s football field
     BOBBY BOWDEN FIELD AT DOAK S. CAMPBELL STADIUM, effective 
     "the day after" FSU football coach Bowden "quits coaching"
     at the school (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 3/28)....Mavericks F CEDRIC
     CEBALLOS is working on a new movie called "BALLING" that is
     scheduled to start filming "next summer."  Ceballos: "It's a
     family movie" (F.W. STAR-TELEGRAM, 3/26).
