NO PSLS FOR A REDS BALLPARK THAT WILL BE FOR MODERN TIMES

The Reds will not sell PSLs at their new $334M
ballpark, according to a "source close to the team" cited by
John Rofe of the SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Instead, the team
"will pay much of" its $30M contribution to the ballpark
with luxury suite revenue (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 3/27).
EARLY LOOK: In Cincinnati, Dan Klepal writes that plans
of the new facility show that it "will not mimic those
'retro'" ballparks in Baltimore or TX but will be "a modern
ballpark for modern times," as it will be "a sleek building
with an open outfield that will offer sweeping views" of the
OH River and northern KY skyline. Reds COO John Allen, on
the ballpark design: "We wanted to make sure it isn't like
all the other parks." Klepal adds that with its current
design, the ballpark "would cost about" 5% more than the
$210M the team and Hamilton County (OH) "want to spend" on
construction. Among the details: Along the third base line
will be an open concourse inside the seating bowl, allowing
fans to "be able to buy a hotdog and be only a few steps
away from game action" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 3/28).
