AWAY WE GO: NOW DAN SNYDER IS GOING TO FOCUS ON FOOTBALL

Redskins Owner DANIEL SNYDER agreed to sell his MD-
based marketing firm, Snyder Communications, to Havas
Advertising of France for stock worth "about" $2.1B,
according to Schneider & Behr of the WASHINGTON POST.
Snyder "stands to get more than" $275M worth of Havas stock
for his 9.4 million shares of Snyder Communications. Snyder
said that he will "hold on to the stock and not use it to
pay down the" the $350M he borrowed to buy the Redskins.
Snyder, on whether the deal will allow him more time to
focus on the football team: "Absolutely. You can write
that. That's what I want, to bring home a Super Bowl trophy
for the Redskins" (WASHINGTON POST, 2/22). Also in DC, Eric
Fisher writes that the image of Snyder's increased role with
the team "conjures either shouts of joy or cringes,
depending on your point of view regarding the tumultuous
seven-month tenure by the 35-year-old owner." One source
close to Snyder: "His real passion now is the Redskins. This
(deal) is not at all a surprise" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 2/22).
