WARNER'S STAR STOCK RISES: INKS BOOK DEAL, APPEARS ON LENO

Rams QB Kurt Warner has reached an agreement that will
have Harper/S.F. and "religious book producer" Zondervan
Publishing House "jointly publish" his memoirs, according to
Keith Kelly of the N.Y. POST, who estimates the deal at
$600,000. The book "will be marketed as both a sports book
and as a book aimed at the ... Christian market." SI Senior
Writer Michael Silver "will be the co-author," while
HarperCollins Exec Editor David Hirshey "will edit the book"
(N.Y. POST, 2/18). Warner appeared on last night's "Tonight
Show." Jay Leno, asking Warner about potential
endorsements: "How about the endorsements? Are you getting
Depends and everybody coming after you now?" Warner: "I've
only had two days at home since the Super Bowl's been over,
so I haven't had much of an opportunity. They did call and
offer me a lot of money if I did decide I would shave, but
my wife said that if I did it for money and didn't shave for
our wedding, that things might not go over too well." Leno:
"For a million bucks, who can be bothered" (NBC, 2/17).
