Of the people who purchased basketball shoes last quarter:
Nike purchases were relatively evenly distributed amongst
skill level overall, but were significantly higher among
tournament-caliber players (67%) than beginners (41%)?
Reebok purchases were the exact opposite: beginners were
significantly more likely to use Reeboks than tournament-
caliber players (18% vs. 10%)? African-Americans were over
five times more likely than Whites to purchase Fila
basketball shoes (16% vs. 3%). They were also significantly
more likely to purchase Nikes (81% vs. 54%). Whites were
almost four times more likely than African-Americans to
purchase Reeboks (11% vs. 3%). In general, men and women
purchased the same types of basketball shoes. However, men
are significantly more likely than women to have purchased
New Balance basketball shoes (5% vs. 1%). Women were
significantly more likely than men to purchase the following
basketball shoes: Adidas (21% vs. 12%); Reebok (14% vs.
