THAT'S A RAP: NBA PLAYERS SEVERING TIES WITH MASTER P

Hornets G RICKY DAVIS said that he "has decided to
join" a group of NBA players, including Nuggets G RON MERCER
and Clippers G DEREK ANDERSON, who are "dumping" PERCY
"MASTER P" MILLER as their agent, according to John Delong
of the WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL. Davis, who has not chosen a
new agent, added that he was "affected by the controversial
contract" Miller negotiated for Saints RB RICKY WILLIAMS.
Davis, on Williams' incentive-laden deal: "That was in the
back of my mind, too. That's probably one of the reasons I
did leave" (WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, 1/10). In NC, Richard
Walker writes that Miller's NO LIMIT SPORTS "appears out of
the NBA game." Davis' father, Tyree, on his son dropping No
Limit Sports: "We just don't need an agent at the time."
Ricky Davis, on why he left: "It was going good until
[Miller] played basketball. It all goes back on him, as far
as who he left in charge when he was doing that. It
reflects on him" (Gaston GAZETTE, 1/10). In N.Y., Mike
Freeman called Williams' Saints contract handled by No Limit
"one of the worst contracts a rookie has signed" in years,
as much of the money is tied up in "practically unreachable
clauses." Williams: "To me, it's sad what happened with my
     contract" (N.Y. TIMES, 1/9).
HE LIKES IKE? In Detroit, Chris McCosky wrote that
Wizards C ISAAC AUSTIN has dropped agent PACO BELLASEN and
hired DWIGHT MANLEY (DETROIT NEWS, 1/9).
