NBA agent Eric Fleisher filed a lawsuit Monday in NY
state court in Manhattan against WSports, a sports-
management firm affiliated with N.Y.'s Wilhelmina Models,
Inc., claiming that the firm had "lured away" many of his
"top players," -- including T'Wolves F Kevin Garnett -- with
promises of "romantic liaisons" with some of the agency's
models, according to Richard Schmitt of the WALL STREET
JOURNAL. Fleisher alleges that these moves and others
"wrecked his business, and he is seeking millions in
damages." Fleisher accuses former employee Andrew Miller of
"betraying him by secretly signing up clients while still
employed" by Fleisher's Assist Sports Management. The suit
alleges that Miller "was in league with two part-owners of
the Wilhelmina agency who at one time had attempted to
purchase" Fleisher's company for $17M, then "decided to
'steal' it after the deal fell through." Fleisher is also
suing ten of his former clients for "breach of contract."
However, Fleisher's attorney Larry Hutcher said that
Fleisher and Garnett are "attempting to settle their
differences out of court." In a statement, WSports called
the complaint "absolute fiction" (WALL ST JOURNAL, 12/15).
