TEMPE TOSSES ITS CARD INTO THE STADIUM DECK TO KEEP TEAM

          The city of Tempe "officially jumped into the fight"
     for a $329M Cardinals stadium, as the City Council voted
     unanimously "to try to keep the team in the East Valley,"
     according to Elvia Diaz of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC.  Diaz
     writes that Tempe's "move makes official what is bound to be
     an intense battle" between Phoenix and the East Valley over
     the team's "possible future" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 12/10).
