NBC SEES FOUR-GAME SWEEP, AS SERIES NEVER REALLY GETS GOING

Last night's Game Four of the World Series earned a
19.1/29 preliminary overnight Nielsen rating on NBC, up 11%
from '98's Game Four on Fox. The game earned a 39.6/54 in
N.Y. and a 34.5/46 in Atlanta (THE DAILY). Game Three earned
a final 16.8/27 national rating, up 9% from last year's Game
Three on Fox. The three-game combined average is a 15.4/25,
which is up 15% from last year (AP, 10/28). NBC Sports
Chair Dick Ebersol said NBC would "eke out a small profit"
on its MLB postseason despite a Series sweep due to the NLCS
going to six games (Rudy Martzke, USA TODAY, 10/28).
