THIRD EXEC SET TO BID ADIEU TO EXPOS; SELIG REMAINS HOPEFUL

          Expos VP/Communications Johanne Heroux "resigned"
Friday, joining recently departed Exec VP/Development
Laurier Carpentier and VP/Marketing Richard Morency,
according to Stephanie Myles of the Montreal GAZETTE, who
reported that Heroux "will leave as soon as" the team's
ownership is transferred from President Claude Brochu to
N.Y. art dealer Jeffrey Loria. Heroux, asked if she will
be the "last" Expos exec to leave: "There were a few before
me; it's possible there might be a few after me. But
changes in management often lead to that. The Lorias were
terrific. They are fundamentally honest people, and it
shows." Loria's "deadline to complete the deal" is November
5, and the "official transfer of power will occur" when his
group purchases a 14.8% stake in the team. MLB Exec
VP/Administration Robert DuPuy said that the "cost of buying
out" Brochu would be between C$27-30M, which includes an
ownership stake of concessionaire Aramark. MLB Commissioner
Bud Selig, on the possible transfer of ownership to Loria:
"I would say they've been very aggressive, and I would say
things look better than they did a couple of months ago. I
need some more documentation" (Montreal GAZETTE, 10/23). In
Charlotte, Olson & Sorensen wrote that Selig is "optimistic"
the Expos will stay in Montreal. Selig: "They're working
hard toward a solution" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 10/24).
