RACIN': Austin-based Mall.com has inked a multi-year
deal with TX Motor Speedway to title sponsor the October 17
IRL race, formerly called the Lone Star 500. Additionally,
TX-based Southern Bleacher Co. will sponsor the inaugural
Pennzoil World of Outlaws race at the facility's new dirt
track, which will be held March 30-31, 2000 (TMS)....In
Charlotte, David Poole writes to "pencil in" Pizza Hut as a
"key sponsor in the deal that will have" Wally Dallenbach
driving the Darwin Oordt-owned No. 75 Winston Cup Ford next
season. Pizza Hut will be "one of two or three major
backers" of the car for 2000 and is "expected to assume" the
primary sponsorship in 2001 (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 9/29).
TEAM MOUSE: TX-based Team Mouse, in conjunction with
First Union, will distribute Dolphins Screensavers to the
first 15,000 fans at Monday night's Bills-Dolphins game.
Team Mouse will also distribute 20,000 Capitals Screensavers
at the Leafs-Caps game November 5. Meanwhile, Team Mouse
was awarded the Dallas Business Journal's "Pacesetters"
award for the second straight year. Team Mouse was among
the 25 fastest growing "emerging" companies in Dallas with a
31% growth in '98 net sales. The "emerging" category is for
companies with revenue under $10M (THE DAILY).
AGENCY NEWS: The Southwest Basketball League retained
TX-based Joy World Communications and TX-based Sterling
Media as agencies of record. Joy World's deal for press
materials is valued at $100,000 for the first year, while
Sterling's deal for TV and radio production and media buys
is for $50,000 (SBL)....Charlotte-based Signature Sports
Group has partnered with The Charlotte Touchdown Club to
promote the Bronko Nagurski Award, which honors outstanding
collegiate defensive football players (Signature).
