PICTURE THIS: YORK SAYS NEW STADIUM ALONE WILL COST $450M

          49ers VP John York said that recent projections for a
     new 49ers stadium put the cost at "about" $450M, according
     to Clark Judge of the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS.  That estimate
     is "up considerably" from the $325M projection of two years
     ago.  York: "It's going to be hard for any single individual
     owner to cover that cost."  He added that all plans on the
     facility are on hold until the team's ownership situation is
     settled.  In other news, Judge reports that "less than a
     week after five photos of" 49ers co-Owner Eddie DeBartolo
     were removed from the lobby trophy case, York "pledged that
     they would return."  York: "They will be back shortly, and
     there will be additional pictures as well."  York said that
     he and his wife Denise knew nothing about the pictures'
     removal (MERCURY NEWS, 9/21).  SI's Peter King reports that
     John York ordered team jerseys for everyone in the club's
     offices to wear at work on casual Fridays (SI, 9/20 issue).
