DID BEING PASSED OVER FOR JOB SPUR COHEN'S FSN WEST EXIT?

Former Fox Sports West and Fox Sports West 2 VP & GM
Kitty Cohen, "a wonderful, ethical, intelligent, well-liked
and respected person, was put in a position by Corporate
America that compelled her to resign," according to Larry
Stewart of the L.A. TIMES. Cohen would not reveal her
reasons for leaving, but after speaking with a "number of
sources," Stewart writes that a "picture emerges of a Good
Ol' Boys network, one that did not include Cohen." Stewart
writes that there "are good people at Fox," as Fox Sports
Chair David Hill "is generally well-liked and respected.
The same can be said about" FSN President Jeff Shell. The
PR people "are aggressive and proficient." But in "middle
management, there are some hard-living, hard-talking,
     tirade-throwing, step-on-anybody types. And Cohen didn't
fit in." Stewart writes that "apparently, the final straw
came when she was passed over for a promotion" to oversee
Fox's Western RSNs, a job given to Fox Sports Southwest VP &
GM Jon Heidtke. Stewart: "Heidtke, by all accounts, is a
fine gentleman. But he didn't have Cohen's seniority or her
qualifications" (L.A. TIMES, 9/10). Also in L.A., Tom
Hoffarth writes that Fox "loses one of the nicest people in
the business" in Cohen (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 9/10).
