FACILITY NOTES

          Ascent Arena President Tim Romani, on the "raw,
     unfinished, dimly lighted" Pepsi Center: "My promise is that
     we will open in 69 days.  It will be done by Oct. 1."  But
     in Denver, Tillie Fong writes that seems "a long way off"
     (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 7/25)....San Antonio City Public
     Service Chair and former Mayor Nelson Wolff said the Spurs
     "need to focus themselves" in regards to a location for a
     possible new arena.  But Spurs Exec VP Leo Gomez said that
     the team can't choose between the city-owned Alamodome site
     and the county-owned Freeman Coliseum because "we don't have
     any concrete proposals to choose from" (EXPRESS-NEWS, 7/27).
