IVESTER "started a major campaign to apologize to Belgian
consumers who became ill after drinking Coke's products."
The company will begin an ad campaign today in 15 Belgian
newspapers (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 6/22). In the open letter,
Ivester writes, "To all the Belgian people, I want to say
that I'm personally very sorry for any discomfort or
inconvenience. My colleagues and I will be working hard to
earn your trust again." PR exec BOB DILENSHNEIDER calls the
ads "smart," and says, "It time for Ivester to step up, get
his arms around this and declare victory" (USA TODAY, 6/22).
