Raleigh-based PR firm Richard French & Associates has
"launched a sports marketing division that will represent"
pro teams, including the Spurs, for sponsorship development
and marketing, according to Renee DeGross of the Raleigh
NEWS & OBSERVER. French is also "linking" with senior
tennis player Johan Kriek's FL-based Sports Masters Int'l,
and the two will be responsible for "staging events,
endorsements, athlete recruitment, and awareness for
athletes," including Bjorn Borg and Guillermo Vilas. Jay
Wisse will lead the sports marketing practice. Wisse,
formerly of the Spurs and the Hurricanes TV Network, has
"brought those clients, and will also be handling accounts"
for the Islanders, Sylvania Alamo Bowl and NASCAR's
Performance Racing Network (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 6/18).
