ANALYSTS WONDER IF JORDAN WILL FOLLOW THROUGH ON ASIA TRIP

Michael Jordan's intention to visit Nike-contracted
factories in Asia this summer "will be the highest profile
effort yet" in addressing the controversy over working
conditions at the plants, according to CNN/fn's Lisa Barron
on "Biz Buzz." Barron: "As always, Jordan's timing is
perfect, coming just one day before U.S. President Bill
Clinton proposes international child labor standards." Nike
"and some others" say that they have "already adopted new
measures on their own," but labor activists say that
"problems still persist." Activists say that they "are
encouraged" by Jordan's intent, move but "question whether a
quick visit, even by the world's best-known sports figure,
can have a lasting impact" ("Biz Buzz," CNN/fn, 6/15).
