THE ROSEMONT HORIZON HAS A NEW FRIEND ... ALLSTATE

IL-based Allstate Corp. has bought naming rights to the
Rosemont Horizon and will rename the facility Allstate
Arena, according to Galo & Karuhn of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.
Terms of the contract were not revealed, but Village of
Rosemont Exec Dir Harry Pappas said that with options, "the
length of the contract could extend up to 20 years."
Allstate was "looking for ways to increase its visibility"
in its home market, and in exchange, Allstate Arena will
receive extensive signage. Allstate may also paint its name
on the roof of the building "for the benefit of planes
passing overhead." Tower Records salesclerk Matt Rogan, on
the name change: "When I hear Allstate, I hear insurance.
When I hear the word insurance, I am not thinking of a good
time" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/20). The facility will officially
be renamed after the Village completes a $20M renovation in
August. The arena's main tenants include the IHL Wolves and
the DePaul Blue Demons (The Allstate Corp. News).
