OH SAYS NO TO FOX'S H.S. FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

          OH will not allow any of its teams to compete in the
     high school football national championship proposed by Fox
     Sports Net and Student Sports Inc. for December 2000,
     according to John Seaburn of the AKRON BEACON JOURNAL.  OH
     High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Dir of PR Bob
     Goldring said the issue of that game "has been discussed"
     before at national conventions, but the OHSAA feels that
     "the time is not right to get involved in something like
     that."  In addition, OHSAA rules prohibit OH teams from
     competing in games after the completion of the state
     playoffs.  More Goldring: "It seems odd that the backers of
     this proposed national championship game wouldn't float
     their idea past some state high school associations to see
     if there's support for it" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 4/22).
