NCAA APPROVES $54.5M SETTLEMENT IN RESTRICTED EARNINGS CASE

The NCAA Exec Committee has approved the recommended
payment plan in the restricted earnings case settlement for
$54.5M that will compensate coaches whose earnings were
illegally restricted. The Exec Committee's action was to
approve use of NCAA-wide reserves totalling $18.25M to help
reduce the allocation of payment. The remaining $36.25M
will be assumed by the Div. I member schools. Payments from
these schools will range from about $80,000 for the smaller
ones to around $200,000 for the larger ones (NCAA).
