CAMBY, IN PINK RAGE, ASKS, "HOW CAN YOU TREAT ME THIS WAY?"

Knicks F Marcus Camby "wasn't amused Sunday at the Air
Canada Centre when the Raptors' game-operations crew played
the sound of a baby crying" when Camby entered the game as a
substitute, according to Bill Harris of the TORONTO SUN.
Camby called the sound effects "bush league." But Maple
Leaf Sports & Entertainment Dir of Event Operations &
Production Jim Roe said, "What we did Sunday did not break
any rules. It falls into the realm of personal taste. Some
people would find it funny, while others would be offended.
We call it a home-court advantage." Harris notes that
despite the various in-game NBA guidelines, "there is
nothing specific to cover player substitutions or targeted
mockings of visiting athletes." Roe: "If we can do
something within the rules that even momentarily throws a
visiting player off his game, we'll do it. We would never
take it off the court, though. Everything we do is confined
to things that happen in the basketball world. We wouldn't
get into somebody's personal life" (TORONTO SUN, 3/23).
