MLB MARKETING NEWS: MAJESTIC INKS DEAL; PLAYERS GET NEW LIDS

          Majestic Athletic inked a five-year licensing agreement
     with MLBP giving the company full jersey replica rights. 
     The deal, which also includes imprintables and knits, is 
     co-exclusive with Russell Corp (MLBP).
          WHAT A MESH: MLB players and coaches will wear
     Authentic Diamond Collection mesh caps from New Era
     throughout spring training.  The players will also wear the
     lids during batting practice for the regular season.  A
     national retail campaign will support the introduction of
     the hats, which will be available at retail March 1 (MLB).
          MLB'S VIDEO PUSH: Polygram Video will launch a "multi-
     tiered" promo around the April release of "MLB '98: The
     Record Breakers," a four video series.  The promo will
     include spots on Fox, NBC and ESPN, print ads in national
     sports magazines and a radio campaign featuring video, game
     tickets and MLB merchandise giveaways (BRANDWEEK, 2/22).
