WILL THE SCHWARTZ STILL BE WITH SAMPRAS? AGENT LEAVES IMG

Jeff Schwartz has resigned from IMG to start his own
sports law firm in N.Y. During his six years at IMG,
Schwartz represented a number of tennis clients, including
Pete Sampras, Marcelo Rios and Martina Hingis. Prior to
joining IMG, he worked as an attorney in CT (THE DAILY). In
a statement issued on Tuesday, IMG Senior Exec VP Bob Kain
said, "We hope to work with Jeff on certain projects in the
future, as I'm sure he'll honor the employment agreement he
signed with us, which prohibits him from taking IMG clients
or competing against us for a period of two years" (IMG).
In N.Y., Robin Finn reports that whether Schwartz continues
to oversee Sampras's "legal affairs is under negotiation
with IMG" (N.Y. TIMES, 2/24). Schwartz told THE DAILY this
morning he would not comment on the N.Y. Times report and
that details of his new business were still in development.
