STAPLES CENTER SAYS, 'LOW TICKET PRICES? YEAH, WE GOT THAT'

NHL Kings President Tim Leiweke said that the team's
season-ticket holders "are not going to get priced out" of
the new Staples Center, according to Roger Phillips of the
Long Beach PRESS-TELEGRAM. Leiweke: "We're going to be very
aggressive to make sure a family of four can walk into the
Staples Center on a nightly basis and get in for less than
$100, and that's for everything. ... Our season ticket
holders will be very, very happy with the way we price out
the new arena. ... I do not want to scare fans away. Sports
have hit a ceiling. This building is not going to be for
the corporate elite. It's going to be for everybody, and we
better price ourselves accordingly." Leiweke said that
construction on the 18-month project is on schedule, which
he called "remarkable" (Long Beach PRESS-TELEGRAM, 2/9).
