CLEVELAND ROCKS: BROWNS PICK FM STATION TO BE LOCAL CARRIER

The Browns have signed a three-year deal making Jacor
Communications' WMJI-FM their flagship radio station. Jacor
said it will develop a network of affiliates throughout the
region and make assignments for on-air talent at a later
date (Jacor). In Cleveland, Roger Brown reports that Jacor
is paying the Browns an "estimated" $3M for the broadcast
rights (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 1/26). A Jacor spokesperson
said that WMJI won the contract because "it has the
strongest FM signal in the area, and the second-strongest in
the state" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 1/26).
THE I'S HAVE IT: The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Andy
Bernstein reports that the Browns have retained NJ-based ISI
to assist with team sponsorship sales. ISI will also help
the Browns with PSL sales (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/25).
