FRANCHISE NOTES

IF THE THUNDER DON'T GET YOU...: In St. Petersburg, Tom
Jones reported that the Lightning will have new uniforms,
new colors and a new logo starting next season. Also,
Lightning Owner Art Williams said that tickets will be less
expensive (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 1/25)....In Tampa, Roy
Cummings reports that Fox's 2.6/5 overnight Nielsen rating
for the NHL All-Star Game at the Ice Palace Sunday was down
16% from a year ago. In Tampa, the game earned a 2.9/6,
making it the third-most-watched program in the Tampa Bay
area in its time slot (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 1/26).
THE DANCING BEARS? In Boston, Dan Shaughnessy wrote
under the header, "Why Aren't Bruins Talk Of The Town?" The
team has already sold out the FleetCenter 11 times this year
compared to four all of last year, but the volume of talk-
radio callers and media treatment of the team has been
sparse. Bruins President Harry Sinden: "We were always on
the third page of the sports page. Now we're on the fourth.
... [But] hockey people are hockey people, and they don't
care whether there's anything in the paper or not. They
come to the games" (BOSTON GLOBE, 1/24).
