Pro Player is unveiling a new logo for '99, which will
appear in and around Pro Player Stadium in Miami. The logo,
which will be featured on all fall products and Pro Player's
branded line, features a "more stylized 'P' and the
elimination of the familiar lightning bolt in favor of a
Nike-esque swoosh" (BRANDWEEK, 12/7 issue)....Nike said that
it "did not condone" Australian cricketer Shane Warne's
actions of accepting money from an Indian bookmaker, but
added that "it stood by the tarnished star." Warne has a
sponsorship deal with Nike "believed to be worth" about
US$620,000 (PAKISTAN DAILY, 12/10)....Canadian construction
materials manufacturer BPB Westroc will sponsor Canada's
freestyle skiing team through the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter
Olympics. Westroc will also sponsor the World Cup moguls
and aerials events on January 30-31 in B.C. (CP, 12/11).
....DC-based Strickland & Ashe Management signed Univ. of
Central FL QB Daunte Culpepper and Vanderbilt Univ. CB Fred
Vinson to representation deals (THE DAILY)....N.Y.-based NMG
was retained by the Walter Camp Football Foundation to
promote and publicize the Walter Camp Awards (NMG)....Flutie
Flakes will be available in Ontario for C$4.99 a box, but
"only for a short while." A&P Canada's Bill Steine: "We've
got 2,000 cases from the American distributor but it's only
