FRANCHISE NOTES

SALE? Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner met with his
limited partners at a "hastily called meeting" in Cleveland
yesterday to consider Cablevision's "proposed purchase of a
significant interest in the team" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 11/20).
NFL: NFLP is working on a "pretty aggressive timeline"
in developing the new logo for the Titans. NFL Manager of
Corporate Communications Brian McCarthy: "We hope to unveil
the logo and the colors within the first two weeks of
December" (TENNESSEAN, 11/19). Also in Nashville, TENNFL
reported that 4,980 PSLs in the two endzone sections have
sold out. There are now "less than" 6,000 PSLs remaining in
the stadium outside the exclusive club-seat sections
(TENNESSEAN, 11/19)....In Minneapolis, Tom Powers calls the
Vikings announcing a 25% ticket price increase for next
season during the week of the Packers game "a splendid plan
that worked perfectly" because no one seemed to notice.
Powers: "It's just that this is an enormous price hike ...
for a franchise that has been fan-friendly for all of three
months. Anybody out there get a 25 percent raise this
year?" (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 11/20)....Sacramento County
Superior Court Judge Thomas Cecil denied a request by East
Bay business exec Ed De Silva and Oakland/Alameda Country
for a change of venue in the lawsuit against the Raiders.
The suit will remain in Sacramento County and a "jury trial
could begin next fall" (CONTRA COSTA TIMES, 11/19).
EXPOS: Quebec-based grocer Provigo Chair Pierre Michaud
said that food distributer Loblaw "has expressed an interest
in investing" C$10M in the re-launch of the Expos consortium
bidding for a new ballpark (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 11/20).
