WHERE'S THE AD ABOUT TRIPP(ING)? CAPITALS FOCUS ON POLITICS

The Capitals have created an "aggressive, new,
politically themed" ad campaign that is designed to "boost
the hockey team's long-sagging attendance," according to
Eric Fisher of the WASHINGTON TIMES. In the campaign's only
TV spot, a crew of "stoic, stern-faced Secret Service agents
use their earphones to listen to Capitals radio broadcasts
and cannot contain themselves when the team scores." In a
radio spot, an announcer depicts Capitals games as the "one
place in Washington where the left wing and the right wing
always work together." Washington Sports & Entertainment
VP/Communications Matt Williams: "The ads have already
started to make a big difference, just in two days." The
ads were created by MD-based Trahan, Burden & Charles and
will run "at least" through Christmas (WASH. TIMES, 11/13).
