READY FOR THE RETURN OF DISCO -- MIKE VEECK JOINS DEVIL RAYS

          Northern League Saints co-Owner Mike Veeck will join
     the Devil Rays as Exec VP/Marketing & Minority Owner,
     according to Jim Caple of the ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS.  Veeck
     said that he has "a handshake deal" with Devil Rays Managing
     Partner Vince Naimoli and that he will have "free rein" over
     the team's marketing department.  Veeck "declined to specify
     his percentage of ownership" in the Devil Rays, but "it is
     believed" to be for 10% or less.  Veeck added that comedian
     Bill Murray is also investing in the team.  Veeck will sell
     his interest in the Saints "as quickly as possible to raise
     the money" for the purchase, but he will keep his ownership
     in the Northern League Canaries (PIONEER PRESS, 9/15).
