IS TCI THE NEXT GROUP EYEING PREMIER LEAGUE BID?

English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur said it
has "received and rejected" a $134M bid from the leisure
group Enic, according to Erich Boehm of DAILY VARIETY. In
addition, Boehm writes that TCI has reportedly contacted
Leeds United, another Premier League team, about "taking a
strategic stake in the club or together setting up a cable
channel." Wall Street sources told Boehm that reports of an
American bidder planning to challenge BSkyB's offer for
Manchester United were incorrect (DAILY VARIETY, 9/15).
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY: In Philly, Francesca Chapman writes
that Roger Taylor of the band Queen pledged $16,000 to help
organize a group of fans trying to keep Rupert Murdoch from
buying Manchester United (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 9/15).
