          In Boston, Will McDonough reported that the two-year-
     old FleetCenter "will be getting a facelift in the near
     future," including plans for a hotel plus office and retail
     space.  Bruins Owner Jerry Jacobs: "We have to take a look
     at what they are doing in other parts of the country with
     theme restaurants and what we think will serve our customer
     best" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/26)....San Diego's Task Force on
     Ballpark Planning voted unanimously to recommend that the
     City Council put the $411M Padres ballpark and downtown
     redevelopment project on the November ballot (S.D. UNION-
     TRIBUNE, 7/24)....In San Antonio, Jerry Briggs reported that
     the Alamodome "might need an upgrade if it hopes to lure a
     prospective owner in the next few years."  In an informal
     survey of premium-seat capacity in new NFL stadiums, the
     Alamodome -- with seating capacity of 65,000, 66 suites and
     6,864 club seats --  may come up $11M short in premium-seat
     revenue per season (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 7/25).
