          Oakley Chair Jim Jannard said the company's new
     sneaker, introduced yesterday, will turn a profit "because
     of Oakley's blend of proprietary technology and materials." 
     Oakley says it will restrict sales to the Internet and about
     200 retailers (L.A. TIMES, 5/13)....KS-based Gear for Sports
     has joined the ABL's roster of official licensees and will
     produce a line of ABL and league team apparel, including
     sweaters, jackets, oxford shirts, caps and children's gear,
     which will be available in the fall (ABL)....Jim Beam has
     ended its 17-year sponsorship of the annual Kentucky Derby
     prep race at Turfway Park.  The company said the sponsorship
     "no longer fits" into its business plan (AP/CINCINNATI POST,
     5/12).....CNBC's Maria Bartiromo reported that shares of
     Callaway Golf hit a 52-week low, finishing down 1 7/8 to 22
     7/8.  Its 52-week high was 38 1/2 (CNBC, 5/12).
