TAKING IT TO THE WEDGE: COUNTY OFFERS BALLPARK SITE

Hamilton County, OH, has offered to build the Reds a
new $235M, 45,000-seat riverfront stadium on the "wedge"
site between Cinergy Field and the Crown area of Cincinnati,
according to documents obtained by Barry Horstman of the
CINCINNATI POST. The proposal, however, describes the
"wedge" as a "problematic location and makes it clear" that
the county prefers two other alternatives: renovating
Cinergy and building a ballpark at Broadway Commons. County
attorney Louis Cohen said in a letter to Reds Managing Exec
John Allen, "If the team insists on a new stadium at the
'wedge,' we are still prepared to work with you. However,
this is the most difficult option from the county's
perspective" (Barry Horstman, CINCINNATI POST, 3/25).
