COLTS IRSAY WANTS ALL CONSTRUCTION DONE IN ONE SHOT DEAL

Colts Owner Jim Irsay said the Colts want to accelerate
the construction of the 3,100 new club seats and arm-chair
seating at the RCA Dome by a year, hoping to institute all
new seating elements in time for the '99 season, according
to Sean Horgan of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS. The original
schedule in the amended lease calls for the Capital
Improvement Board (CIB) to spend up to $20M to remodel the
existing luxury suites, move the press box higher and
construct four super suites in its place by July 1, 1999,
and to build 3,100 club seats and replace upper-deck bench
seating with arm-chair seats before August 1, 2000. But
Irsay said, "It's more logical to do it all at once." CIB
Chair Pat Early said the board "is amendable to moving up
the construction schedule." Horgan added that the
accelerated schedule would allow both the CIB and the Colts
"to enjoy the fruits of all additional revenue streams
contained in the amended lease" (STAR-NEWS, 3/14).
