USATF'S MASBACK EXPECTS TRACK TO BE A TV FORCE BY '99

          Saturday's USA Indoor Track & Field Championships will
     air live on NBC from the Georgia Dome, and in Atlanta,
     Prentis Rogers writes that USA Track & Field Exec Dir Craig
     Masback "is close to completing a cable deal that will
     televise a series of collegiate meets from mid-March to mid-
     May, a series he predicts will be shown every year."  Rogers
     writes that '99 "is the year Masback expects track to make
     its presence felt" on TV.  Masback: "The goal is to put our
     athletes on television week in and week out.  We've got to
     be around on a regular basis" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 2/27).
