POLLIN REORGANIZES OPERATION, EXPANDS O'MALLEY'S AUTHORITY

Washington Sports & Entertainment (WSE) Chair Abe
Pollin yesterday announced a reorganization that combines
the operations of MCI Center, the Capitals, Wizards, Centre
Management and Centre Group into one operating company under
the WSE umbrella. WSE will operate under the direction of
WSE President Susan O'Malley, who will oversee the company's
seven divisions. Pollin also named Wes Unseld WSE Exec VP.
Among WSE's seven divisions, John Stranix will head Arena
Operations and Barry Silberman will direct the Entertainment
and New Business Development division (WSE). In DC, George
Solomon reports the move brought Centre Management/Centre
Group into the WSE fold. Centre Management/Centre Group had
been responsible for operating US Airways Arena, George
Mason's Patriot Center, Baltimore Arena, area TicketMasters
and bookings for all the facilities. Pollin said the move
"would not include layoffs" (WASHINGTON POST, 2/11).
