NATIONAL THOROUGHBRED RACING PARTNERS WITH TV GAMES NETWORK

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and
CO-based TV Games Network (TVG) agreed to a five-year
membership, sponsorship and development agreement. The deal
is estimated at $15M over five years and could reach as much
as $30M. The deal calls for TVG, an interactive home
entertainment and wagering network to debut in November '98,
to become a "special member" and top-tier sponsor of the
NTRA, and for the NTRA to lend support to TVG's marketing
initiatives. The two will also match annual contributions
to a joint five-year fund dedicated to making home wagering
legal in new states (NTRA). In DC, Andrew Beyer: "[The]
driving principle behind the NTRA is the idea that the sport
can be revived with proper marketing and advertising." The
NTRA has begun a search for a full-time CEO and will launch
its national marketing campaign in April (WASH. POST, 1/25).
