WITH NO GAMES PLAYED, D'RAYS GET NEW CAP AND ALTER UNIFORMS

Six-and-a-half months before they play their first
game, the Devil Rays on Wednesday unveiled an additional
alternate game cap, an inaugural-season logo and some
"subtle" changes to their home uniform, according to Marc
Topkin of the ST. PETERSBURG TIMES. The new cap features
the letters TB and a devil ray, "similar in design" to one's
worn by the team's FL minor league affiliates. Devil Rays
Managing General Partner Vince Naimoli said that he was
"opposed" to the idea of a fourth cap, "but relented when he
saw what he considered an attractive design." The new logo
will be worn as a shoulder patch on team uniforms. The
color of the white home uniform's accessory items --
stirrups, belt, and piping on the jersey and pants -- is
being switched from purple to black. Also, a white border
and black outline have been added to the purple letters and
numbers on the back (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 9/12).
