FRANCHISE NOTES

          A WPHL franchise in Little Rock, AK, will begin play in
     '98 at the 8,300-seat Barton Center.  Team investors will be
     Scott Shaunessy and Paul Lawless, who were also involved
     with the Austin Ice Bats (WPHL)....The Magic received
     renewals from 93% of season-ticket holders.  Of the 4,000
     fans on a waiting list, an estimated 1,000 will get a chance
     to buy tickets (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 8/21)....An ad ran in
     yesterday's WALL STREET JOURNAL advertising a AAA baseball
     team for sale.  The ad: "Profitable.  10,000 seat stadium --
     Prosperous city.  $12 million US" (WSJ, 8/20)....Hartford
     Downtown Council officials have contacted about 35 companies
     in Greater Hartford about distributing ticket information to
     employees about the new AHL Wolf Pack franchise which begins
     play in the city this season (HARTFORD COURANT, 8/20).
