MEDIA NOTES

In N.Y., Bob Raissman writes on HBO's telecast of the
Oscar de la Hoya-David Kamau fight, adding that, "Maybe HBO
didn't want to open old wounds, but it was disingenuous of
Jim Lampley to say Larry Merchant 'has the night off.' ...
Anyone who follows boxing knows Merchant was forced to take
the night off. Lampley should have presented fact rather
than fiction" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/17)....HBO's "Arli$$" is
reviewed in today's N.Y. TIMES by Caryn James. James:
"[T]he wicked satire of 'Arliss' is just a few shades away
from reality" (N.Y. TIMES, 6/17).... ABC's Chris Schenkel is
profiled by Michael Hiestand in USA TODAY under the header
"ABC's Nice Guy Bows Out." Hiestand: "Schenkel ends his
36th season of pro bowling as ABC drops the sport, leaving
its TV future uncertain. So too is Schenkel's" (USA TODAY,
6/17)....ESPN will air ten installments of "Racing to the
Breeders' Cup," a TV series on Thoroughbred racing that runs
from June 29-October 12 (Breeders' Cup)....MLB Home Video
and Orion Home Video are releasing "Prime 9," a new video
featuring nine top MLB players, to stores June 24 (Orion).
