USOC VOTES DOWN 2008 OLYMPIC BID; AIMS FOR 2007 PAN AM GAMES

          The USOC's Board of Directors has voted to support a
     U.S. bid for the 2007 Pan American Games, and on the same
     ballot, voted not to seek a U.S. candidate city for the 2008
     Olympic Games.  The Board voted in favor of considering the
     bid process and timing for a U.S. candidate city for the
     2012 Games, which will be addressed at the USOC meeting,
     November 1-2 in Orlando, FL (USOC).  Houston, San Antonio,
     Miami and Raleigh, NC, are seeking the 2007 Pan American
     Games (Mike Spence, CO Springs GAZETTE TELEGRAPH, 6/17).
