NBC & SONY REACH TECHNOLOGY DEAL TO TAKE THEM THROUGH 2008

          NBC and Sony Electronics Inc. announced a long-term
     deal under which Sony "will serve as the network's chief
     technology provider for U.S. broadcasts of five sets of
     Olympic Games, beginning with the 2000 Summer Games in
     Sydney," according to Carl DiOrio of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. 
     NBC's broadcast centers for the Olympics will be built
     around Sony's digital systems, with the first center to be
     designed as a reusable facility that would be stored as a
     unit and then rebuilt and upgraded for subsequent Olympics
     Games (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 6/17).
