          Panthers LB Lamar Lathon is taping a Nike commercial in
     L.A. next weekend with Packers QB Brett Favre (CHARLOTTE
     OBSERVER, 6/14)....In Ft. Lauderdale, Charles Bricker noted
     that Corel's three-year (with an option year), $12M WTA Tour
     sponsorship "is at the midway point [and] Corel President
     Mike Cowpland says he's more than satisfied and sees no
     reason why Corel won't re-up for a second deal."  Cowpland:
     "We'll begin negotiations about mid-year in 1998" (SUN-
     SENTINEL, 6/15)....The Baltimore stop of the Hoop-It-Up 3-
     on-3 basketball event was expected to draw 15,000 spectators
     and 3,000 participants this past weekend (Baltimore SUN,
     6/14).  In Dallas, Richard Alm looks at the growth of Hoop-
     It-Up and parent company Universal Sports America Inc.,
     under the header "Street Smarts Have Taken Hoop-It-Up A Long
     Way" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/16)....PepsiCo has been awarded
     an exclusive beverage contract at the Univ. of Nebraska-
     Lincoln, which will receive $1M a year over 12 years (UNL).
