The Seattle stadium proposal "may be in trouble" among
people who have already cast ballots by mail, according to a
poll last Friday cited by Peter Callaghan in the Tacoma NEWS
TRIBUNE. Referendum 48, which goes to the polls tomorrow,
was losing 53% to 47% among those who had already voted,
according to a Mason-Dixon Political Media Research poll for
The Spokesman-Review newspaper and KHQ-TV in Spokane. The
poll has a margin of error of +/- 5%. The poll found the
stadium "facing fierce opposition from women and people
outside the Puget Sound region." WA Gov. Gary Locke voted
for the stadium on Friday (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 6/14).
GOOD TURNOUT: Officials predict more than half the
state's registered voters will vote for the special election
and County Dir of Elections Bob Bruce said that "only a
presidential election attracts that kind of interest"
