COLTS OWNER SAYS HE WANTS TO KEEP TEAM IN INDIANAPOLIS

Colts Owner Jim Irsay "is trying to prove he wants to
stay put" in Indianapolis, according to Johnston & Chappell
in the INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS. Irsay met yesterday with NFL
Exec VP Roger Goodell and city officials to "review"
material which is "expected to be the basis of a proposal
for a more lucrative RCA Dome lease." Irsay bought a full-
page ad in Wednesday's editions of the local papers "to
underscore his intentions" to keep the Colts in town. The
ad was written as a letter to "My Fellow Hoosiers and Colts
Fans" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 5/29). The next meeting
regarding the team's situation is "tentatively" set for June
17, when the Colts and the city are "expected to have a
better grasp of the team's demands and the city's
willingness and ability to meet them" (STAR-NEWS, 5/29).
