TWINS OWNER SAYS TEAM WILL MOVE OR BE SOLD WITHOUT SESSION

Twins Owner Carl Pohlad and his sons said yesterday
that unless there's a special legislative session this year
that approves a new ballpark the team will be put up for
sale "in the open market" or the Pohlads will seek to move
the team on their own, according to Jay Weiner in the
Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. At a news conference, Jim Pohlad
was "challenging" the MN Legislature to act before October
1, when the Twins can give notice on their stadium escape
clause. A spokesperson for MN Gov. Arne Carlson said the
Governor, who has the power to call special sessions, would
be "agreeable" to one. The Pohlads also yesterday withdrew
"any proposal or implied proposal" made previously in
stadium talks, including a 49% stake in the team, or $15M in
     cash (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 5/28).
