MEDIA NOTES

          Peter Lund, President & CEO of CBS TV and Cable,
     resigned yesterday "over a plan to take away his
     responsibility for the network's TV stations group," which
     will now report to CBS Radio Chair & CEO Mel Karmazin
     (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 5/23)....MLB Dir of PR Rich Levin, on
     MLB's cybercasting policy: "[T]his is going to get resolved
     in the next couple of weeks, and we'll be able to formulate
     our policy one way or the other.  At that point, we'd expect
     every team to comply, one way or the other" (SEATTLE TIMES,
     5/22)....The VFW will be the presenting sponsor of ESPN's
     Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Veterans Day programming. 
     The sponsorship is part of an eight-month sports marketing
     alliance between the two organizations, and will include
     promo spots created specifically for air during the three
     weekends (ESPN)....ESPN will support its '97 NFL programming
     with the ESPN/NFL "Grand Tour" promo, which includes the
     ESPN/NFL Press Pass consumer sweeps, where one consumer will
     win trips to all nine games aired on ESPN in '97, and the
     ESPN/NFL "Survivor" affiliate and local advertiser incentive
     campaign, where one affiliate and local sponsor will receive
     trips to the Pro Bowl (ESPN)....Warner Home Video is
     releasing "Highlights of the 1997 Masters Tournament," a 53-
     minute video due out May 27 (Warner Home Video)....The
     Bengals are introducing "The Play-By-Play Sweepstakes,"
     designed by IN-based Yancey Marketing Corp., where fans can
     win prizes for each play of each game.  Fans can enter the
     contest at retail locations (Bengals)....SportsChannel Ohio
     received a network-record nine Cleveland Emmy Award
     nominations (SportsChannel Ohio)....Ojai Valley Inn & Spa in
     Ojai, CA, will host the '97 EMC Golf Skills Challenge
     November 3.  The $400,000 Golf Skills Challenge will air on
     NBC on December 13-14 (Ojai Valley Inn).
