MEDIA NOTES

          The Brewers have hired IMG and its TV negotiator, Barry
     Frank, to handle their next TV deal.  The team's contract
     with WVTC-TV expires at the end of '97 (MILWAUKEE BUSINESS
     JOURNAL, 5/19 issue)....The Professional Hockey Players'
     Association (PHPA) launched its official Web site at
     http://www.phpa.com, featuring Player Profile of the Week,
     merchandise, media info, and more.  The site was designed by
     Ontario-based V.com Solutions (PHPA)....ESPN's Robin Roberts
     will serve as play-by-play commentator for WNBA games on
     ESPN.  UConn women's coach Geno Auriemma will serve as
     analyst and former Fox Sports reporter Sandra Neil will be
     featured on-site and in pre- and post-game reports (ESPN).
     ...Starting June 1, SportsChannel Pacific's service will
     move to expanded basic on all of TCI's Bay Area Cable
     Systems, impacting more than 1.6 million basic cable
     households (SportsChannel).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
