FRANCHISE NOTES

Paid attendance at the rescheduled Blue Jays-White Sox
game yesterday at Comiskey Park was 746. The gate take was
$3,730 as fans could buy tickets for $5. ESPN's Charley

is more than $335,000 -- for the day. On payroll alone,

tough day at the office" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 4/9)....The
Red Sox will distribute commemorative Jackie Robinson
baseballs after their home opener, not before (Providence
     JOURNAL-BULLETIN, 4/10)....In New Orleans, over 5,000 new
season-ticket orders have been placed since Mike Ditka was
named the Saints new head coach (SI, 4/14 issue).
